mass-consumption, but there
is a rising movement out
there called craftivism.
Whether inspired by a
person's need to express
individuality, or the simple
love of creating something
beautiful, the result is truly
a one-of-a-kind item..

INSPIRATION
Behind my wallets...
One day my wallet started to fall
apart, and it was time for a new one.
I searched high and low for a wallet
that looked pretty and held
everything I carry around in my
wallet: cash, credit cards, insurance
cards, receipts, coupons, change,
random slips of paper (for quick
notes or simply to use for old
chewing gum), maybe a checkbook
(who carries checkbooks around
anymore?? Only moms as far as I
know!), whatever else.
Anyway, I had no such luck. I should
also add that I'm one of those people
who don't believe that my wallet
should be worth more than the stuff
I'm carrying around in it! So I
decided to make one. After a few
less-successful attempts, I think I've
made one that fits the bill that even
non-moms could appreciate.
I hope you think so too.

...and to the smelly stuff!
While pregnant with our third child, I
became slightly obsessed with the idea of
"natural" parenting. Rightfully so, since
unlike our first two children, she was
born with extremely sensitive skin that
reacted to even the most "sensitive" baby
products. We changed our laundry
detergent, household cleaning products,
and started reading the labels on
everything! With that came the
realization that most of the things we do
and use could be simplified and made less
toxic, not only to the environment, but to
our family as well... then I thought, "How
is it that we are so concerned about what
we're cleaning our house with, when we
don't even think twice about what we
clean ourselves and children with?"
And there the obsession with chemical-
free soap began... Needless to say, the
skin problems are gone.
